Housekeeping Supervisor

The Housekeeping Supervisor plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the hotel. This position involves supervising and coordinating the activities of the housekeeping team, ensuring guest satisfaction, and contributing to the overall positive guest experience. A Housekeeping Supervisor is a key position in ensuring that the hotel's cleanliness standards are met and that guests have a positive experience. This role requires strong supervisory skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with the housekeeping team and other hotel departments.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Staff Supervision:

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of housekeeping staff, including room attendants, housekeeping assistants, and laundry personnel.
  • Assign tasks and duties to staff, ensuring efficient and timely completion.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff members and address any issues or concerns.

2. Quality Control:

  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas to ensure they meet or exceed cleanliness and maintenance standards.
  • Identify and address any cleanliness or maintenance issues promptly.
  • Enforce and maintain quality control procedures.

3. Training and Development:

  • Train new housekeeping staff members on established standards and procedures.
  • Provide ongoing training and coaching to ensure consistent performance.
  • Foster a culture of excellence and attention to detail among the team.

4. Guest Services:

  • Collaborate with the front desk and other hotel departments to fulfill guest requests and resolve guest issues related to housekeeping.
  • Ensure guest special requests are accommodated whenever possible.

5. Inventory Management:

  • Monitor and manage housekeeping supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory records and facilitate ordering supplies as needed.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of cleaning equipment.

6. Reporting:

  • Prepare reports on departmental performance, including cleanliness scores, room occupancy, and maintenance needs.
  • Provide regular updates to the Assistant Housekeeping Manager or Housekeeping Manager.

7. Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure that housekeeping operations comply with safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Promote and maintain health and safety protocols for the department.
  • Train staff on safety procedures and protocols.

8. Budget Support:

  • Assist in monitoring departmental expenses and contribute to budget adherence.
  • Participate in cost-effective practices, such as energy conservation and waste reduction.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Hotel Management or a related field.
  • Previous experience in housekeeping or a related role, with some supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping equipment and cleaning techniques.
  • Familiarity with hotel management software and systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of local health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
