Laundry Attendant

The Laundry Attendant/Assistant is responsible for assisting in the laundering of linens, towels, and other textiles to support the hotel's housekeeping and guest service operations. This role is essential for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the hotel. A Laundry Attendant/Assistant is an important part of the hotel's housekeeping team, contributing to the overall guest experience by ensuring that linens and textiles are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to upholding cleanliness and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Laundry Operations:

  • Assist in sorting, loading, and unloading laundry machines.
  • Operate washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment according to established guidelines.
  • Follow laundry procedures to ensure the proper washing, drying, folding, and ironing of textiles.
  • Inspect linens for stains, damage, or wear and report any issues.

2. Quality Control:

  • Maintain cleanliness and quality standards for all laundered items.
  • Fold, stack, and store clean linens properly to prevent contamination.
  • Assist in inspecting laundered items for defects and addressing any issues.

3. Inventory Management:

  • Assist in monitoring and managing laundry supplies, including detergents, chemicals, and other necessary items.
  • Report low inventory levels and assist with replenishing supplies.

4. Safety and Hygiene:

  • Adhere to safety and hygiene protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Report any safety hazards or concerns to the supervisor.

5. Customer Service:

  • Work closely with the laundry team to ensure timely delivery of clean linens to the hotel's housekeeping department.
  • Assist in responding to guest requests for laundry services and address any guest concerns or complaints.

6. Assistance to the Supervisor:

  • Support the Laundry Supervisor or Housekeeping Manager in various tasks, such as inventory tracking, equipment maintenance, and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in laundry operations is a plus but not always required.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and quality standards.
  • Ability to operate laundry equipment and follow laundry procedures.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks that require bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic knowledge of safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
