Laundry Supervisor

The Laundry Supervisor plays a crucial role in managing the laundry department of the hotel, ensuring that all linens, towels, and textiles are cleaned, maintained, and delivered promptly to support the hotel's operations and guest satisfaction. A Laundry Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the hotel's linens and textiles are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards, supporting the overall guest experience and hotel operations. This role requires strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, as well as a commitment to upholding cleanliness and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Laundry Operations:

  • Oversee the daily laundry operations, including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and ironing of linens, towels, and other textiles.
  • Ensure that laundry machines and equipment are properly maintained and serviced as needed.
  • Monitor the inventory of clean and soiled linens and requisition replacements as necessary.

2. Supervision and Training:

  • Supervise the laundry staff, including laundry attendants and pressers.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities, establish work schedules, and ensure staff compliance with established standards and procedures.
  • Provide training and guidance to new and existing staff members.

3. Quality Control:

  • Maintain high cleanliness and quality standards for all laundry items.
  • Inspect the quality of laundered items and address any issues or defects promptly.
  • Ensure the proper handling and storage of clean linens to prevent contamination.

4. Inventory Management:

  • Track and manage laundry supplies, including detergents, chemicals, and other necessary items.
  • Replenish supplies as needed and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages.

5. Cost Control:

  • Implement cost-saving measures, such as energy conservation and efficient equipment usage.
  • Assist in budget planning and management for the laundry department.

6. Reporting:

  • Prepare regular reports on laundry department performance, including laundry production, linen inventory, and budget adherence.
  • Provide reports and updates to the Housekeeping Manager or Executive Housekeeper.

7. Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure that laundry operations comply with safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Enforce safety protocols for staff and equipment operation.
  • Report any safety hazards or concerns to the supervisor.

8. Customer Service:

  • Coordinate with other hotel departments to ensure timely delivery of clean linens and textiles.
  • Respond to guest requests for laundry services and address any guest concerns or complaints.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Hotel Management or a related field is a plus.
  • Previous experience in laundry operations, with some supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness and quality standards.
  • Knowledge of laundry equipment and chemicals.
  • Familiarity with hotel management software and systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of local health and safety regulations.
