Restaurant Hostess

The F&B Hostess/ Restaurant Hostess is responsible for providing a warm and welcoming first impression to guests. This role plays a vital part in creating a positive dining experience by managing reservations, seating guests, and assisting in the coordination of restaurant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Guest Reception:

  • Welcome and greet guests upon their arrival, providing a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Manage reservations and allocate tables, taking into consideration guest preferences and the flow of service.
  • Escort guests to their tables, presenting menus, and ensuring they are comfortable.

2. Reservation Management:

  • Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and manage reservations effectively.
  • Keep an organized record of reservations, special requests, and guest preferences.
  • Communicate reservation details to the restaurant team to ensure smooth service.

3. Guest Assistance:

  • Assist guests with inquiries, dietary restrictions, and special requests.
  • Offer information about the restaurant's menu, daily specials, and promotions.
  • Notify servers of any special guest needs or requests.

4. Restaurant Coordination:

  • Collaborate with the Restaurant Manager/F&B Manager and servers to manage the flow of guests and optimize table turnover.
  • Ensure the restaurant is set up to meet service standards, including table settings and cleanliness.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of essential supplies such as menus and reservation books.

5. Guest Farewell:

  • Bid farewell to guests as they leave, expressing gratitude for their visit.
  • Collect feedback on guest experiences and report any issues to management.
  • Handle guest billing and payment as required.

6. Health and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including social distancing and sanitation protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization at the host/hostess station.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; hospitality or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in reservation management software and basic computer applications.
  • Customer-focused with a positive and welcoming attitude.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
